So, it's been rather a long time since I updated, at least by how I measure things. I guess there just hasn't been all that much to report. There still isn't, but I am more bored than anyone should have to be at work, and I have already read through all the interesting articles on FARK. So here goes.
Still working at Baker and McKenzie. They keep making noises about when they're going to let me go, but I don't know much at all yet. I know that I will still be working next week, and that's about it. I've pretty much given up hope of making this a permanent job, which is too bad. I like it here. But there's just not enough of the work I was hired for to keep me busy. Right now I'm spending seven hours a day working on Christmas cards for the attorneys. I have a fantastic selection of papercuts and have had to stop wearing my rings because in this cold dry weather they just slide off my fingers. I was terrified of losing one. So this weekend I'm going to get a set of ring protectors at Wal-Mart, but until then I am ringless. It feels weird!
Life in the apartment is still going well. It's hard to keep things clean when all I want to do when I get home from work is cook dinner and relax. Mike has really helped with washing dishes and such. But I really need to pick up the house and fold all our clean laundry. I have a day off tomorrow since temps are not invited to the big holiday party, so maybe I'll try and do it then. The birds are getting used to having wings again. It's funny to watch them flying around in their cage, all out of practice with it. Victoria loves to watch them. She's growing up now, and getting very naughty. We have to keep our eyes on her or she's in the garbage or on the table or some other unacceptable place. The other day I found her sitting on top of the birdcage, which took a year or two off my life. Naughty kitten. We're getting her fixed next month, which will hopefully calm her down a little.
I don't really know what else to put in here, like I said, things are pretty much just rolling along. We should be down in Galesburg for the first LARP of the new year, and I'm going to try and bring some edible presents along. We may be poor, but we have lots of chocolate chips!
