electra310: (angry thomas)
Okay, it's been for-just-about-ever since I updated this thing. I am very bad, especially since a lot has been happening recently. Right now the birds, who are angry that I stayed up until dawn today and didn't feed them till I went to bed, are throwing their breakfast at me. But I shall persevere and type anyway. The birds are doing well, the egg-laying problem I was having with Dani did not last beyond the removal of the log she decided to nest in, and Karen's foot is entirely better. She doesn't use it quite the way she uses the other one, but she certainly gets around well. Thomas the foster cat (see userpic) has moved on to a new home in Indiana, and I think Victoria has worms. Yecch. She goes to the vet first thing on Monday. This probably means we need to vacuum the whole house again, so it's probably good that we're rearranging everything to create things like floor space.

Speaking of which, our illustrious roommate Lauren has also left for greener pastures, off to Iowa, another land characterized mainly by corn and soybeans, but which also has things like AnimeIowa. With our sudden influx of cash from the government (thank you, tax return!) and the insurance company's sudden decision to act like empathetic human beings and actually pay what they told us they would pay, we may actually be able to make it out there for that this year. That would be awesome. But yes, anyway, Lauren is gone, and the apartment seems emptier without her. The apartment _is_ emptier without her, I suppose. She has promised to come visit, and indeed is bound to come at least once more to do her doctors' appointments and get the rest of her stuff, so that is good.

In the meantime, I am finishing unpacking (yes, it's been a year, so sue me). I've found some of my nice dressy clothes that will do well for the internship, so that's happy. I've also thown away some junk, and found some stuff to give away or sell on the move-stuff-around in Champaign groups I belong to. Today, for instance, someone is coming to give me seven dollars for all Mike's old original Game Boy games, since we have been hauling them all the way since his move from Pennsylvania, even though we don't have a game boy. And hey, seven dollars! I'm looking forward to getting stuff out of boxes, and hopefully bringing a little organization into my life. I am shitty at organizing things, but given enough space, I can sometimes do it. With this size apartment, if I cannot get organized here, I cannot get organized anywhere. It can't be done. Still miss my six Chicago closets, for the record. And that awesome bathtub of awesomeness.

Stuff About My Job )
So that's basically what I've been doing with my life recently. One of these days I will clean my house, and people should come visit me. We like visitors here, and we have board games!
