That was a good song to hear this weekend, it got me all philosophical for a few minutes. I haven't done a lot of philosophizing lately, which is a shame as I am theoretically supposed to be a professional at it by now. I've gotten so rolled up in legal history and black letter law and research citations that I just haven't had the time, much less the inclination. But I was relieved to find out, when I stopped to think about it, that my regrets for the past months are few and far between. This was the big test weekend, but I went to Freeport and celebrated Kirsten's birthday party and had a good time without missing anything. Kirsten is 13 now, isn't that crazy? So for the next month I have two teenage sisters, then Allie will turn 20, and I will have an adult sibling for the first time. Very weird.
School is good so far. I miss my old friends from college, but enough of them have kept in touch that there's still a warm glow of connection there. And the people in my class are nice and friendly, and if I haven't made friends at least I've made friendly acquaintances. It's only been two weeks, and I'm not in a huge hurry. We're all so busy so much of the time. I'm keeping up with the readings, but my briefing is not really where it should be. I think I've got a good overall grasp in every class, and today my property professor said that a comment I made was both "very good" and "elegant." Score! My mini-section is 35 people, which is, of course, bigger than all but a very few of my Knox classes, but I still get to talk quite a bit. I think some people are intimidated by the idea of looking stupid in front of the class. That's not usually a problem for me, since if I'm going to look stupid I might as well get some insight out of it.
I gotta go, since it's time for class again. But I might be back later, to fill out some of those memes that everyone is passing around, or just to maunder a little more. Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion!
