Good news to start the day with today: Mike got his first temp assignment! This is very welcome news, since it's the first income we've had since I left my Chicago job in June. Doesn't sound like a particularly fun assignment, helping clean up after a fire, but doing well on nasty jobs can lead to openings for better ones. And he still has that interview at Target tomorrow, and applications at a zillion other places. He's very smart, I know he will find something. =)
Eight days till law school starts. Aiype! I'm simultaneously delighted and terrified. I bought a few of my books used on Half.com and saved a buttload of money, but looking at the hugeness of the books themselves makes me a bit nervous. It doesn't help that they're for things like Contracts and Property, the classes I'm already not looking forward to. (Although my dad says I'm lucky, one of the other first year sections has Contracts taught by a professor who was there when my dad went to school, twenty-five years ago. Apparently he was evil back then, and has probably not improved. Whew!)
The weekend at Wes' place was awesome, and I'm beginning to regain mobility in my arms, which is even better. I got to tube behind a jetski and a skiboat, which was incredibly fun and wearing. The last time I actually flew through the air when I got knocked off. Never got the hang of skiing or kneeboarding, so I'll leave that to others. I learned to ride a jetski though, and that was really fun.
Gaming here is really picking up speed, which is great, but leaves me wondering exactly when I'm going to find time to do all this and study my ass off as well. I'm not running anything currently, and I think that's going to be the norm for awhile, at least till I figure out how much free time, if any, I'm going to have. I'm tempted to haul out the D&D books and go on a good old fashioned hack and slash adventure, which we haven't done in quite awhile. We also have to get our apps in to the Champaign LARP when school starts again. Yesterday I hauled out my makeup box and tried out a look for my new character. I'm giving her an anime look, which is hilarious and very Nosferatu when you try and put it on a real person. I just need to get some blue makeup, since the violet I used for the eyes the first time made me look a bit like I had two black eyes. But the idea is definitely there.
Today the agenda is laundry. So much laundry. But I have quarters and detergent, so at least I am well-equipped. I did a fair amount of cleaning yesterday, and if I do an equal amount for the next eight days, this place will look pretty good by the time I head back to school. And that will be nice.
