So, got Mike's second tuition bill the other day. Twelve-fucking thousand dollars. Choke, choke. I can't believe this place. University of Chicago costs as much or more as a year at Knox, but without things like, you know, food and board, which runs us another 12000 just for rent. We so have no money. I got Mike to talk to his dad about sending us the last installment of money early, so we could pay for the total of this bill and decide intelligently how much financial aid we'll need to borrow to get through to September. But through some sort of miscommunication, his folks are sending us the bare, exact amount we need to make our bank account fit the tuition check. Which is great for tuition, but not so good for things like food and bills and trying to get out to North Carolina for Christmas. At least the rent is paid through the end of January, so we don't have to worry abou that. This shall be our grand experiment in attempting to make ends meet with a budget of zero dollars. Won't that be fun? I'm going to end up dipping into the money I was saving for moving this summer, but you do what you have to do, I guess.
Yesterday was the worst day of the month at work, where all the lazybones who didn't give me any work to do all last month finally got off their asses and realized "Hey, this shit's due at five pm, better give my thirty days worth of billable time to the time entry clerk. I'm sure no one else is doing the same thing." So I broke all my previous standing records for most time entered in one day, then went home and slept. But then I got up again and washed dishes and did laundry. Go me!
I guess it's about time to get dressed and head in to work once again. I'm hoping my folks give me money for Christmas so I can buy a few new things to wear. The best thing about dieting and losing a little weight is that the business casual style clothes that I used to wear and grew out of now fit me again. It expands my wardrobe just enough that I don't have to wear the same outfit twice in a week and a half. What I want now is some mix-and-match stuff. That would be cool. If I could get myself down to a size where I could shop profitably at Salvation Army and Goodwill, that would be fantastic. Not very close to that yet, though. People always seem to send their skinny clothes to Goodwill when they gain weight, and not the other way around. Very sad. But I'm still working! Yesterday I ran up eight flights of stairs and only had about four grams of fat all day. But I was soooooo bad over Thanksgiving. Oh well, you can't look forward and backward at the same time and still see your feet.
By the way, I am online during the day at work, if anyone is bored and wants to talk. I had to blow Wes off a little yesterday because things were so crazy, but that's a one-day-a-month thing. Normally I am bored out of my gourd. =) And this entry has gone on quite long enough, I think.
