The other day I had a big long update ready to post, but a slip of the mouse deleted the whole thing. I hate using the webpage to update instead of the client, but it's the only way I can do it at work. So maybe I will break this post into pieces to say everything I want with less chance of losing the whole thing if I press backspace wrong. So, with that said...
Interesting things have been happening. Mike and I are getting a roommate for Knox's winter break, a first-year we don't know very well yet. Loren vouches for her, and she seems nice. And I remember how much I wanted to get away from home when I was a first year, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. Of course, this means we have to clean the place up a little. We started last night, I put away the rest of the groceries in the living room, then scrubbed the bathroom top to bottom. It's always so warm in there, and the air circulation is so bad, mildew just loves it. But not now that I have attacked it with my Tilex and Bravo Bleach Cleanser and Clorox Cleanup Wipes! I was going to do more after that, but the fumes made me have to lay down while Mike chased the cat around to keep her out of the bathroom.
So hopefully that whole situation will work out. The house needs cleaning anyway, that's no joke. I feel better now that the bathroom is clean, and I know I'll feel really good when we finish with the whole apartment. Mike went down today and paid the rent for December, so we don't risk forgetting with Thanksgiving and all. Money is going to be seriously tight for us, and I'm not sure what we're going to do about it. The tuition bill at U of C is so absurdly high, and it's due in three weeks. We can pay that, but the problem is going to be rent and food and Christmas presents and gas and birdseed. We may end up having to get a few thousand in student loans after all, which wouldn't be good, but better than running totally out of money and not being able to move to Champaign in the summer.
Okay, this is long enough for one post. I might do more in a bit.
