Finally, an update!
Sep. 30th, 2004 09:48 amWell, it's been for just about ever since I updated my Livejournal, but I've been very busy. For the first time since we moved here, the pace of life has sped up from a crawl to a run, and a lot of things have been happening! Mike has started his classes, at long last, and has a lot of work and studying to do for them. A lot of that studying involves doing research on the professors themselves so he can impress one into being his thesis advisor. He also has a thesis topic pretty much picked out, but I don't understand it enough to discourse intelligently on it. Not that this has ever stopped me before... =)
I've been very busy in my work with Primerica, finishing my preliminary training and taking my insurance licensing exam. I took and passed the state test yesterday (whew!) so now I'm licensed to sell Life insurance in Illinois, and also qualified to earn commission on the financial services I sell through Primerica. Which is nice. I had my first training appointment as well, where my manager sat down with Mike and I and went through a Financial Needs Analysis, which is what I'll be doing with clients eventually. I think we'll end up opening little insurance policies (we don't need much right now, after all) and start investing a little bit of money in a retirement account. When you're 22, you don't have to put much in each month, since it has a looooooong time to grow.Which is good, since we're not exactly swimming in cash here. I need to do five more training appointments and finish my training class and then I'll get promoted again, which means a higher commission percentage. Woo!
Even more fun and busymaking news: We got a kitten! Her name is Victoria, and she is five months old. She's just adorable, and loves to cuddle. And she's already perfectly litter trained, which is a huge plus. We just have to supervise her with the birds, in whom she has an unhealthy interest. She's only jumped onto the cage once, but when she did I had to pry her off, one paw at a time, while the birds went nuts. It was very exciting.
Anyway, here's some pictures of her, and for good measure, pictures of us in our AnimeIowa costumes! Victoria
