electra310: (Aylee with mixer)
Today was a big day for cooking. Dad and Kirsten were up to see the Bears game today, and since we're only four miles from Soldier Field, they stayed with us and we dropped them off before church so they didn't have to find parking. Because I am a wonderful wife, daughter, and sister, I got up at 6am and make homemade crepes with real whipped cream flavored with vanilla, and dusted with powdered sugar, and corn muffins on the side. After church I really got down and dirty and made another German Chocolate cake from scratch, which helped ease the agony of defeat after the Bears failed to pull it off in the fourth quarter. I think this one was even better than the first, because I didn't rush the cooling like last time. Sent most of it home with them, along with most of the double chocolate walnut cookies I made Friday.

Speaking of cookies, I'm compiling my ingredient list for Galesburg/AnimeIowa. I hope to have at least five or six dozen to take with me, all different kinds. If anyone has a specific kind they are pining for, speak now or forever hold your peace. Mike and I go out shopping tomorrow. I swear, I've gone through about fifteen pounds of sugar alone since I've moved here. But it's fun! The only problem is, I got a spatula stuck in my electric mixer the other week, and the beaters have never been the same. I have to try and find a new set, but how do you find beaters for a forty or fifty year old mixer? Puzzlement, indeed...

Sigh...

electra310: (burning goodness)
I think I may have to stop checking my Knox email anymore. I have transitioned most of my correspondence to my Gmail address, and looking at Knox mail is starting to depress me. During the summer I was only depressed by the truly phenomenal amounts of spam I was receiving, but now the school year has started, and I get to see all the things, especially gaming, that I can't be a part of. It wouldn't be so bad if I were in law school, and up to my eyeballs in studying, but my God, I don't think I could be more bored. Mike is running a one person Call of Cthulhu game for me, which will hopefully ease this jonesing.

Everyone at Knox, I miss you a lot. Everyone who has been at Knox, I miss you too. It's very good to know that I'll be visiting soon. Until then: Cookies!

Update: Mike has returned from his trip to the copy shop with a white rose for me. I feel much better now. =)
