I'm Free, I'm Free!
Feb. 23rd, 2004 11:46 pmSo... I'm not a storyteller for the vampire LARP anymore. Thank God. I've slowly been figuring out that if all a storyteller had to do was tell a story, I'd be pretty good at it. I can do stories. It's all the rules arbitration that finally broke me, till I hated even talking about game anymore. Going back to the warren really brought it home, how much fun I used to have planning these elaborate locations and plotlines, when I was the juniormost storyteller and had Adam and Jason actually dealing with the nuts and bolts. Karl will be a good rules arbitration storyteller.
Of course, now I find myself in the odd position of the fallen angel, omniscient unto the day, but no longer in a position to learn new things or to really affect them. I haven't decided whether I will play again. Monica didn't turn out the way I wanted her to, and I find her a fairly uncompelling NPC. Hannah is gone, gone, gone, much to the delight of the populace. If I bring in a character, it would most likely be a new one, with no knowledge of the happenings or history of the city. And I just don't think I'm that good of a roleplayer.
In happier LARP news, we now have real life actual LARP supplies, bought by the brand-new LARC budget! This morning after my class I went and got our account number (recently recycled from Students for a Free Tibet, may it rest in peace) and took it over to Purchasing. I got a box of sharpies, a box of mechanical pencils, 3000 mailing labels, a ream of copy paper, and a big binder with dividers and a three hole punch. Then I took my loot back to Campus Life, and filled out a purchase order for the other stuff I want, so on Thursday I get the school's Wal-Mart card to buy a plastic storage box, pink and blue index cards for the Changeling LARP, and a cloth drawstring bag to be the bag o gen, just so Reid doesn't empty the blood box three times a night in his quest to actually have the chips in a bag. The only thing I couldn't get hold of is the makeup kit, because the Warehouse doesn't have the right colors in stock. But that's just as well, since that's next term's budget.
I've talked with Rachel, and I think I've figured out how we can work this LARC thing for next term. Since I'm not a storyteller anymore, obviously I can't sit on the storyteller board (which is something I maybe should've thought about when I was filling out the club papers, but oh well.) I'm still listed as top contact for LARC though, which could make things sticky. But if Rachel moves to the PR position, which is an idea she likes better anyhow, and I become treasurer, then all the paperwork should sort itself out. Now the Storyteller Board just has to convene itself and say yea or nay. =) Though it could be academic if I spend our entire budget before they have a chance to meet. Go me!
