Not Very Surprised

So, got my story workshopped today, things went about as I expected. Pretty much worthless. To sum up, I need to cut my beginning and my end, switch around the middle, make the main characters never meet, change the story to go in an entirely different direction, and up the "lyrical" factor until I puke. Then, apparently, it will be ready for a second draft. The sad thing is, I will do all this, because I don't love the story enough to stand up for it. I learned way back in high school to never workshop something that means anything.
But at least I only write for fun. I don't have to learn to do all this shit as a survival skill. No one will ever tell me that my subpoenas are not lyrical enough. And when I write, it will be something that I do for fun, for myself and the people who will enjoy it. And that's cool with me. Only seven more classes to live through!
