Mar. 19th, 2003 02:11 pmCFA FIRE ALARM SYSTEM OUT OF SERVICE
The fire alarm system at the Ford Center for the Fine Arts is no longer functional. The alarm panel, circa 1962, is not able to be repaired. Design planning for a replacement system has begun. It will be installed as quickly as possible and we will keep you informed of our progress.
This means that there are no functional pull stations, smoke detectors, nor alarm horns in CFA. However, the sprinkler systems in Harbach and Kresge remain operational, but we will not be alerted if water is flowing.
IN CASE OF FIRE OR SMOKE IN CFA:
EVACUATE THE BUILDING AND ALERT OTHERS BY VOICE AS YOU GO.
CALL 911 AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE FROM A SAFE LOCATION TO ALERT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND CAMPUS SAFETY.
In other words, yell "Fire!" in the crowded theater building? Lovely. Though this does explain the 15 minute fire alarms that sounded like someone was tackling the loudspeaker and strangling it last week.
