electra310: (Aylee with mixer)
Last night I worked till closing. I was scheduled till midnight. I worked very hard, and my feet are finally startingt to acclimate (a little) to the work, I think. It wasn't until Hour 5 or so that they really started feeling bad. At midnight, we were not finished, so my supervisor is all "Oh, well, we're not done yet (there were six people closing the store, because some sort of inspection is taking place today.) You'll have to stay longer." I asked how much longer, and pointed out that my husband, who gets up early in the morning to work, was waiting outside for me. She vacillated, and then finally let me go close to my assigned leaving time with an air of great hardship.

Then I found out today that I have three mandatory training meetings in the coming three weeks that the owner hasn't bothered to mention besides a cryptic comment on the website. No one bothered to mention this before I was hired, or indeed, even after. So basically I work whenever they say I work, with no regard to my availability, when I was scheduled, or even whether or not they've mentioned it ahead of time.

I have an interview today at County Market. God, I need something better than this. I thought I was not picky about working, but apparently I was wrong. If CM can make me a better offer (and really, anything besides bagger would be better to me), I will make tonight my last night. Giving them one night worth of notice is, after all, about as much consideration as they have shown me in my time working there. When I got hired, he mentioned that turnover was high among employees, but I'm not sure it's for the reasons he thinks. Just because someone quits doesn't mean they're desperate for an extra quarter an hour or just flighty. THEY DON'T LIKE YOUR SHITTY CORPORATE CULTURE! Ahem, now that I've got that off my chest...

If I do go, at least I go knowing that their backsplash is cleaner than it has been in ages, since that's what I spent forty minutes doing last night. I even scraped the petrified waffle off the wall with a putty knife. It's beeyootiful. Also, if you go to Cold Stone as a customer, I recommend raspbery sorbet with fresh raspberries and dark chocolate shavings. Wonderful stuff. The bright spot in last night.
