electra310: (Badger Counsel)
I finished the blanket! It's the biggest project I've ever finished, a 31x31 inch baby blanket, 120 stitches across. It wasn't a hard pattern, stockinette with a garter stitch border, but just disciplining myself to sit down and finish it was hard. I really wanted to get it done today. I was so close. I packed up everything, including my iron, and brought it all to school. I got here at 6:40, and I just managed to finish the last few thousand stitches, bind it off, sew up the ends, and block it with the iron, then tied it up with a pretty ribbon. I'm so proud! Now I want to do another one. But not until after Christmas, since I have a lot of orange and blue scarves waiting to be knitted.

Of course now is the time not for knitting, but for studying. That was the other reason to finish the blanket, cause if I didn't get it done now, I was worried I'd get bogged down and never finish it. But it's finished, and it's soft and pretty, and there were only two mistakes in the 30,000-odd stitches. I'm so proud! It makes me feel a little bit better about finals. Even if I tank and fail law school, maybe I can move down south and open one of those little kitschy shops, selling knitted stuff and baked goods. And dispense legal advice without a license in my spare time. Woo-hoo!
