It's been quite awhile since I last rapped at you guys, so I thought I'd make an update just so you know I haven't been abducted by gypsies. There's really not a whole lot to report. Life is pretty sweet right now down in Champaign. Mike hasn't got a job yet, but he's got about a million billion applications in, so I'm very optimistic. Our money is holding out for the moment, so here's hoping for work by August. Speaking of money, we emptied our silver elephant yesterday. We got the elephant the week of our wedding, when I took my rings in to get polished, he was on sale at the jewelry store. So all year we've been putting quarters and dimes and nickels into the little guy, so we can use the proceeds for a nice dinner on our anniversary. We counted yesterday, and he has fifty dollars in him. Score! We'll actually be celebrating our anniversary in South Carolina this year, on vacation with my family, so maybe we'll find a nice restaurant in Beaufort, by the water.
Gaming has been picking up lately, too. Since I quit as a Narrator, I've been trying to pay as little attention to LARP stuff as possible. It feels great. We've started an Aberrant game that Mike is running, and a Changeling game that Lauren is running. I have not started running a game since I have the strong suspicion that I will not have time for it once school starts. But it's really nice to be gaming again, even if my yellow dice apparently need some sort of exorcism. We're also getting a lot of unpacking done, though we desperately need another bookcase or three. Yesterday we went to an auction in Mattoon where they had six china cabinets up for bid. I really want a china cabinet. We spent all morning there, only to have all of them go for much more than we could afford to spend. I had my hopes pinned on the smallest, plainest looking little cabinet, only to find that it was some kind of Uber-Antique that went for 1600 dollars. Cry. I will find a china cabinet one of these days, I'm sure of it.
Lauren has off from work today, so I think we're going to go shopping. We found a Tanger Outlet mall in Tuscola on our way to the auction yesterday, and I must check it out, along with the nearby building called "Amishland." I am intrigued and simultaneously terrified.
