So, here I am at work again, and oh, so very bored. Kind of like usual. This weekend was a lot of fun though, and will help me get through the drudgery. That, and the very nice after-Easter sale at Walgreens today. =)
I got Friday off work, which was veeeeery nice. Mike and I headed down to Galesburg with Danny in the travel cage and got there around 12:30. Lauren and Reid and Tyler weren't home, but luckily Aaron let me put Danny in their room to chill and be pissed about the medication all over his bib. Mike went to peruse the Special Collections in the library for his thesis, and I headed to Goodwill and CFA. I found a cute shirt at Goodwill for my costume, then headed down to do makeup. With Moira still at three aggravated wounds, I wanted to make it pretty disturbing if I could.
The Stage Makeup book from Margo's class was unrevealing in this case, so I kind of had to freehand things. I painted two layers of liquid latex onto my neck and arm, let it dry, then tore big holes in the surface of it. I painted over the whole thing, holes and all, with another three layers (four around the edges), then let it all dry, prodding it with my fingers and twisting the skin for added texturing effects. When the latex was dry, I put some black latex around the inside edges of the holes to make them look deeper, then smeared mixed red and dark brown and black makeup over all of it. With a Q-Tip, I layered gel blood over the whole thing, paying special attention to the ridges around the holes I made, then waited for it all to dry. The gel blood took a long time. When it had dried, I stabilized it with another layer of latex over the top, so I wouldn't rub off on anything. It ended up looking pretty good, if I do say so myself. =)

LARP was interesting as well, I think Hans and Moira may be reaching the end of their story in this city, one way or another. Next session will be interesting, provided that I do not die in the downtime. I got a roleplaying point, mostly for the makeup, though I like to think some of that was roleplaying as well. Between Rhiannon's shyness, Hannah's NPCosity and Eleanor's desensitization, Moira has definitely been my best character for RP point earning. Karen will probably not do well in that arena, what with one thing and another, so I'm enjoying it while it lasts. =)
Easter was fun too, but not especially newsworthy. I had my family birthday party, got some money and a Swiffer Wet-Jet for the kitchen floor. It works really well. Danny is still sick but getting better, and Mike is back at work on his thesis. And I must go back to work too. =)
