So I started out yesterday being really bummed. Didn't want to go to work at all. I wanted to do Wraith LARP really badly, but after President's Day on Monday, I couldn't afford to miss any more work hours for the week. So I was sad about that, as well as the fact that I knew I'd be doing this hideous filing project most of the day. And the fact that no one was on the list at work to bring Friday morning breakfast, so there probably wouldn't be any. And Mike wasn't even going to be online to talk to, because he is a stronger person than I and actually gets off AIM when he really needs to work. I thought about making an entry in my LiveJournal, but it just seemed so depressing.
For a day that started so badly, it really was an amazing day. I like that, and I think I should commemorate it, because too often I forget to write these things down. Train ride sucked, but when I got to work, one of the attorneys, one of the nice ones, brought in breakfast for everyone without even being on the list. Yay! Then I managed to get jambalaya for lunch before they ran out, and in the afternoon we had a little surprise party in the conference room for one of the marketing people on my floor. It was fun, and there was cake with raspberry filling! The filing wasn't very fun, but I did get a lot of it done, which made my boss happy.
And then, around three-thirty, someone posted on the company email that they had two Steppenwolf theater tickets for The Cherry Orchard that night, free to the first person who asked. I thought hard about it, but I couldn't talk to Mike and I just wasn't sure. The tickets got taken, and I forgot about it. Then, around four-fifteen, my friend Amber mentioned that she'd been the one to take the tickets, and she couldn't use them because the friend she'd planned to go with wasn't free. So she offered them to me. I figured it had to be a nudge from fate. I took them, and hoped like hell that Mike would be available and agreeable. He was, and we went.
We had a wonderful time! The tickets were really good, 42 dollar apiece tickets, and I imagine that was a season ticketholder price. We were in the third row of the upstairs threater, and had a great view of everything. And the play itself was wonderful, funny and sad and interesting. We even managed to get free parking outside, so we didn't spend a penny on the whole evening. Yay culture for poor people! Got a bit lost on the way home, but we found our way. Then we had late night bacon and eggs and other fun things, then a good night sleep. For today we sign a lease and LARP! Exciting!
