Guess what guess what guess what!
Oct. 7th, 2004 01:43 pmGuess who has a full time job, starting Monday! That's right, it's me! (You may have guessed someone else, and not even been necessarily incorrect, but I don't care.)
Starting Monday, I will be doing data entry at a big law firm downtown, for eight to twelve weeks! It's a temp job that I got through the recruiting agency that I signed up with, but still, a job is a job, and it's in a law firm at that. Cool beans! Even better, it pays 10 dollars an hour, and it's only a tenth of a mile from the Metra station. I'll buy a monthly pass and not have to drive into downtown in rush hour. As of yet, Mike and I have only driven in the downtown once, and that was before we moved here. It wasn't very fun, and the parking rates are atrocious. Get a monthly Metra pass from our house for the price of two day's parking.
I'm really excited and a little nervous. I've done legal data entry before, that was a huge part of my job at the Knox County State's attorney. But I really want to do a good job, maybe so much that they keep me for another project whenever whatever they'll have me working on now is finished.
In any case, I'm really, really relieved to be working again. Primerica is cool, and if I were looking for a long term career I'd be all over it more than I am, but it takes time to build a business, and by the time I was ready to train recruits of my own, it would be time for law school. Right now temporary clerical work is about the right speed for me. If I sock away most of what I make over the next two months, we may even be only flat broke at the end of this year. =)
