Wonderful Things!
Jul. 1st, 2004 10:43 pm( This actually makes perfect sense, which is kinda cool. )
I have a home! I spent the last three days in Chicago, moving furniture and unpacking boxes and opening many boxes of individaully wrapped dishes and washing them. And now I have a home, with a kitchen full of appliances, and a bedroom with a bed and a dresser and a cedar chest, and a living room with a TV and a sofa and lovely lamps, and a study with two desks and an easy chair, and a bathroom with a shower curtain (and one bathroom without a shower curtain yet). Everyone will have to come visit us, I'm very proud. All of a sudden, this place where I've lived most of my life isn't home anymore. Home is waiting for me, 104 miles away, or thereabouts.
I took Kirsten up there with me, and we rambled all over the neighborhood. It's really cool. I was afraid I was going to be very intimidated by Chicago, but Hyde Park seems like a really nice place. There's a tiny candy store on the corner, and a Baskin Robbins a couple blocks away, and all sorts of other stores. And best (or worst) of all, a Borders only a few minutes walk from home. I think I'm really going to like it there.
We're going back up this weekend, we have a few more things to take up, and the air conditioner to install. But then we'll be done. I'll even make the bed up before I go, so that when we get home from our honeymoon, it will all be there waiting for us. I'm so excited!
