So, I've decided it's time for a little updatey action, now that I'm a big time college graduate with my B.A. in Philosophy (still unemployable after all these years!). Commencement was okay, the speaker was a longwinded dipshit, but at least it gives me a good reason as to why I'm never giving money to the school. I haven't been doing a whole lot since I got home except for wedding stuff and apartment stuff. Mike and I signed a lease on a place in Chicago over senior week. It's a really nice apartment, very big! Everyone will have to come visit us there, and we will have parties. Especially if I can just find some furniture.
Today Kirsten and I went garage sailing, we hit six garage sales in just over two hours, because we are consummate shoppers. I got a mini crock-pot for 1.50, a newish cordless phone for 2.00, a Bissel spot remover steam cleaning thing for 3.00 (useful when all the carpet in your new place is white!) and six blue glasses and four blue mugs for a dollar. Good times. We looked at furniture, but nothing really grabbed me. Still plenty of time for that, though.
This morning I also weighed myself on a real scale, for the first time since I started my diet. If both the scales can be trusted, which I'm pretty sure they can be, I have lost 22 pounds since early April. Go me! I'm eating fresh fruit like crazy now that I'm home, because it keeps me away from all the fatty foods we have around here. Plus, fresh fruit like blueberries and raspberries are a luxury that's expensive enough I think I better enjoy them while I can. I've also discovered the joy of frozen fish fillets cooked in the microwave and doused in lemon pepper seasoning. Easy and fast and one gram of fat per fillet. Can't beat that.
As for the wedding stuff, it's getting crazier and crazier as the day draws nearer. I've started getting response cards in the mail now, two and three a day. There are 27 confirmed guests coming, and that's just from a fraction of our invitations. Craziness. I have appointments with the dentist, the hairdresser, the photographer, the seamstress and the flower lady to keep track of. Not to mention an assload of thank you cards to write. Today I'm working on my first shower and graduation cards. If I can get them done before the second shower, I might be all right.
Which reminds me! My bridal shower is June 27 at 2pm in Freeport! If you want to come (and you're a girl) you have to let me know so I can tell my aunt.She's throwing the party for me. I would send out invitations, but I am much too busy/lazy/don't know anyone's summer address. So there.
