Umm... oops.
May. 21st, 2004 07:26 amWell, guess I went and stayed up all night again, at least if the light shining in through the window is any indication. I was supposed to spend this evening doing my five page draft for Minds, Brains, and Computers, about whether or not it's actually possible to have an artificial intelligence comparable to human intelligence that has no emotions (Data is my prime example, because I don't have to do any research. Go me!) I should've worked on it all day Thursday, but instead I stayed up all night, then drove Bex to the airport at 4:40, then came back and slept till work at noon, went and met with a professor, then slept the rest of the afternoon. Evening went like usual, thought about doing my paper, played Harvest Moon instead, then to Warcraft, then cleaned the suite because tomorrow is cleaning day, and then fooled around for another five hours or so.
I find it very hard to get things done on the computer when Mike is away. I go into withdrawl or something like that. This week while he's been in North Carolina, I've gone back and started archiving all of my old files from back when we first met, when we gamed together in the Simming Forum on AOL. It's kind of cool really, though I wince at some of the writing I did back then. Everyone goes through the Mary Sue phase at some point in your life, and I was, after all, only 15 when I started. It makes me miss the people I used to know back then, and I wish I'd saved more than I did, even though I already have hundreds of random files in the folders I sent from my old computer before it died. I used to have some pretty good friends on there, but other than Mike and one other friend I talk to occasionally, I've totally lost touch, which is sad.
But yeah, like I said, hundreds of files, in more than a dozen folders, some of which I've never even unzipped. Many of which I don't have a current viewer for, so I've ended up opening them with Internet Explorer and pasting into Word just to see what they are. It's a pain in the ass, but a cool trip down memory lane, and way, way more fun than this damn paper. Which I have three pages of finished now, at 7:30 on the day it's due. Looks like I'll be skipping Senior Sem today, but that's all right. If I don't have a big shiny A for my participation grade already, nothing I'm going to do in the next week will change that. Because I talk a lot.
And now, of course, it's time for the big decision. Sleep... or waffle. I really like waffles, but sleep is so much less fattening. Hmm...
