The birds are very noisy today. I haven't been paying any attention to them in far too long, according to their tiny minds. Last night I had dreams that they kept getting out of the house and flying across the yard and around town and I would have to go find them. It was kinda weird.

This is day two of the new 10% less toothful Cori. The pain is easing off, but I'm worried about my tongue. It's still just as numb as it was last night, or yesterday afternoon. My dad called up the oral surgeon, who's an old friend of his, and he called me this afternoon to talk about it. He says there's a slight chance that it could be nerve damage, and it could be permanent. It's unlikely, because there weren't any problems with the extraction, but it's still a possibility. That makes me a bit nervous. It will be hard to make a living on my persuasive abilities if I cannot talk properly. Up until this point, my speaking ability is one of the few things about myself that I really valued.

But right now I'm just freaking out about something that's only a possibility, and probably not even true. I'd like to thank all the people who've sent encouraging notes over the past few days. You guys are the best. =) One more thing, though. Has anyone else had this numbness happen to them? How long did it take to wear off?

Yay, a bright spot in this drab day! Current grades came out! I nabbed an A- in Ethics and Business, which is what I was expecting. Tillinghast is a hard grader, but the class was so pathetic, I would've been upset not to have come out with an A. Got a Satisfactory for my internship (thanks Lauren and Gabe!) along with the promise of a great recommendation whenever I might need it. And, as icing on the cake, I nabbed an A- in Tech Theatre as well! Wooo! I just knew I nailed that final. Not that I need the class for anything anymore, but I did a lot of work for it, and I'm happy it came off so well, after a rocky start.

That boosts my GPA to a 3.43, not too shabby for a tough school. Now I've just got to figure out how to weasel out of taking American Philosophy and Postmodernism next term, lest it drive me to violence.

Oh, and my tongue is still numb, but in comparison to some horror stories I've heard about the day after wisdom teeth, I'm doing great. Guess there might be something to be said for acupuncture after all.
