Marley Was Dead To Begin With
Mar. 5th, 2003 09:39 pmAnd it's me again, back from the movies with Mike. We saw Chicago, which left me with mixed feelings. Beautiful movie, wonderful singing, but the moral kinda sucked. I will not explicitly give away the ending, for the benefit of all those who may not have seen it. But I will say that the Hungarian Disappearing Act will probably stay with me for awhile. Brr.
Anyhow, today was pretty fun. Signed up for work for next term. I will only be working on Tuesday and Thursday, but it will be real work shifts almost. 8-4 on Tuesday and 8-1:30 on Thursday. Get my ten hours in and only work two days a week. And doing fun things! I will start off the day on the line grill, making omelettes. Then a nice leisurely breakfast, then helping JT on the lunch cart. Then lunch, and on Tuesdays, back into the kitchen to make pizza! Cool beans. If only I could get more hours and work in the summer, the kitchen would be the perfect job for me.
Also fun today, I got to pour plaster in the molds we made Tuesday in makeup class. That was fun, I got totally plastered. So to speak. Tomorrow we'll start paper machie-ing them into masks for our final project. I haven't quite decided what I want to do with mine yet. I think some sort of animal, but I'm not sure what yet.
Coming back from plastering, I happened to walk through the Gizmo, where I was forced to giggle at the drumming people. I saw the signs this morning for the "Student Strike." I can only imagine what went on in that planning meeting. "Okay, we're going to strike! Students on Strike?" "And that's gonna stop the war?" "Damn skippy! We'll strike all day long, and they'll have to stop the war!" "Um, I'm not sure all day works for me. We've got a review in my first hour class." "Yeah, and I want to sleep in!" "Hmm, all right... noon! We'll strike at noon!" "Yeah, all day from noon! That will stop the war!" "Yay!"
Anyhow, there they were in the Gizmo, drumming and clustered around that sign they hung up outside the caf all last week, which looks much the worse for wear by now. It looked like they were holding a wake for the poor thing. I wonder if they're still there. I'm bizarrely reminded of The Calvin Problem somehow. Though I'm deathly afraid of what might happen if those people got ahold of any handcuffs.
Anyhow, Mike is obviously starving for attention, so I must go now. =) Later!
