Attention Must Be Paid
Jan. 21st, 2003 02:42 amJust to give you all a little idea of how I spend my time.
I was reading Lileks.com tonight, and he made a passing reference to a quote, "Attention must be paid." It's an odd wording, and it stuck in my head. Somehow I could hear other-Cori, Squeak, saying those words, but for the life of me I didn't know why or where it would've come from. So I immediately toddled off to Google and put the words in as a quote. After sorting the wheat from 2.5 million pieces of chaff, I finally found the original quote. It's from Death of a Salesman, which Squeak did as an audition piece in acting class last term. Yay for me, I solved the mystery! I like the quote, too.
Also, I got pulled over for the very first time tonight. Aieee! I turned on my parking lights instead of my headlight upon leaving Wal-Mart, and Henderson street is so bright, I didn't even notice until Chris pointed out the police car. But the cop was nice, she let me off with a warning and told me to drive carefully. Phew! My dad would kill me if I replaced a tire and got a ticket in the same day. It'd be back to the bike for me!
Bedtime for me now, I'm soooo tired.

"I don't say he's a great man. Willy Loman never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper. He's not the finest character that ever lived. But he's a human being, and a terrible thing is happening to him. So attention must be paid. He's not to be allowed to fall into his grave like an old dog. Attention, attention must be finally paid to such a person."
