Dog Days

You know you've reached the nadir of summer boredom when the big highlight of your day was getting all your laundry done. I did nothing else today but play video games and eat. Pathetic, really. Tomorrow, if I'm feeling really ambitious, maybe I'll even return my overdue library books. Or perhaps I will follow current trends and just lie around and vegetate.

My parents are coming up this week. So are my sisters. So is one of my aunts. And my grandma. That's enough to wither the leaves off any vegetable. Yeersh.

Owwww...

Briefly revisited my childhood today. I was riding home from work when suddenly my hat started flying off. I put a hand up to catch it, realized that it was the hand I needed to brake with RIGHT AWAY, panicked, and slammed into the curb. The pavement and I had a brief but very meaningful heart-to-heart, during which time I was almost run over by a truck, then I managed to collect myself, my hat, and my bike, and stumble off the road into Colton Park. I hadn't fallen off my bike in years. Almost forgot what it's like.

Luckily, my bike and I seem to be in decent shape, all things considered. I have scraped every bony extremity, picked little stones from the balls of my hands, and gotten a lovely red gash on my leg from the pedal. It's a good thing I wore a nice sturdy shirt today or I would've skinned more tender areas. One good thing, I now remember that I do own a first aid kit, and know that it is, in fact, stuck on the wall of my room.

I rode home with my hat in my hand. Who says I can't be taught?
